O Lord, You are the Puppeteer (sUtra dhArivai) of the Grand Show (nATaka) of Deceipt (kapaTa)! O Lord rAma who bestows (osagE) desired (kAmita) results (phalamulu) (phalamulosagE)!
O Lord (ayya)! An unalloyed golden (aparanji) umbrella (goDugu) studded (podigina) with abundant (apari mita) precious stones (nava ratnamulu) is indeed what deserving (tagunu) (tagunayya) for You (nIkE); (however,)
O Lord reclining on SEsha! please accept my service (with an ordinary umbrella which is all that I could afford).

3 - kapaTa nATaka - The five-fold activity (panca kRtya) of the Supreme Lord – projection – sustenance – infolding – hiding – grace – are considered as a grand show (lIlA) without any apparent reason or purpose – like the laughter of a baby. Many acts of the Lord in his manifold avatAra are considered as (apparent) deception ‘kapaTa’. The following are some of the places where in SrImad-bhAgavataM, the word ‘kapaTa’ appears in describing the Lord – Book 1, Chapter 1, Verse 20 (creation); Book 8, Chapter 12, Verse 47 (mOhini). Please also read the detailed rendering of the vAmanAvatAra in Sri Dehaleesa Stuti of Swami Desikan.
Lord bestows grace, by deception, on mucukunda – Son of King mAndhAta of ikshvAku dynasty (If the site does not open, pleas go to Sacred Texts and search for Mythological Tales and select ‘Muchukunda’.)
The full story of mucukunda is contained in SrImad bhAgavataM, Book 10, Chapter 50. It is also stated that mucukunda was a devotee of Lord Siva. viDanga sthalams – temples of Lord Siva – Thiruvarur is one such Vidanga Sthala
