bOTini-osagi mummATiki vEDanu (nArAyaNa)
I shall not seek (kani) (literally find) multi-millionaires (kOTi ISula) (kOTISula) and I shall, definitely (mummATiki), not beg (vEDanu), by offering (osagi) the peerless (sATi lEni) sarasvati - the Goddess (bOTini) (bOTinosagi) of speech (palku). (I shall not sell the gift of speech by extolling the rich.)

Why should I frequent (Elanu) those places (dESamu) (literally country) (dESamunElanu) where rich people - Lords (ISula) wealth (dhana) (dhanESula) - having (kalugu) greed (ASa) (literally desire) of fiendish (piSAca) frenzy (AvESamu) (piSAcAvESamu) are tended (kAceDu)? (OR .. having greed and fiendish frenzy are tended).

I got caught (cikkiti) in Your (nI) hands (cElO) within myself (nAlOnE); (even then) I do not know (teliyadu) as to why (ElO) You would not leave (viDuvavu) (viDuvavElO) Your (nI) niggardliness (lObhamu) (in showing compassion).

vrAlO nIdau jalO teliyadu (nArAyaNa)
In this World (bhU-lOkamulO) people would not tolerate (Orvaru) others’ fortune (mElu) (mElOrvaru); I do not know (teliyadu) whether it is so ordained – writing (vrAlO) of brahmA (vidhi) - or due to Your (nIdau) mAyA (jAlO).

tEreDu panulanu tErE manasuku (nArAyaNa)
People would undertake (dUrEdaru) (literally enter) such tasks (panulaku) which are to be abhorred (dUreDu); they wouldn’t think of - bring (tErE) to their minds (manasuku) - such tasks (panulanu) leading to redemption (kaDa tEreDu).

Why (enduku) associate (celimi) (celimiyenduku) with those mortals (martyula) who do not realise (encani) (literally do not consider) that (ani) we only reap (kaladu) (literally have) (kaladani) here (ilanu) (literally in this World) (ilanencani) results (phalamE) of what we (tA) did (jEsina) in the past (toli)?

bhIshaNa suguNa vibhIshaNa sannuta (nArAyaNa)
O Vanquisher (hara) of demon dUshaNa! O Terror (bhIshaNa) of those (jana gaNa) who slander (dUshaNa) others (para)! O Virtuous One (suguNa) well-praised (sannuta) by vibhIshaNa!

vErE-evaru-unnArE rAghava (nArAyaNa)
O Lord rAghava! Let my tongue (nOru) (literally mouth) always (eppuDu) (nOreppuDu) utter (palukani) Your (nI) names only (pErE); who (evaru) else (vErE) is there (unnArE) (vErEyevarunnArE)?

mitramu kOrudu vRtra-ari vinuta (nArAyaNa)
O Lord praised (vinuta) by indra – the enemy (ari) of vRtra (vRtrAri)! I shall seek (kOrudu) friendship (mitramu) of those (jana) who enjoy (rasika) rAmAyaNa - story (caritra) of rAma - Lord (ISa) of Solar (mitra) dynasty (kula) (kulESa).

dIna jana-avana dAnava hara SrI (nArAyaNa)
O Lord (SrI) nArAyaNa who has garuDa – king (ina) of birds (vi) (vIna) - as carriage (vimAna)! O Lord abiding (Alaya) in the heart (hRt) (hRd-Alaya) of vAlmIki - king (ina) of poets (kavi) (kavIna)! O Protector (avana) of the humble (dIna jana) (janAvana)! O Destroyer (hara) of demons (dAnava)!

nA jUpulu mI nAjUku tanamunE
jUDani tyAgarAju-ullamu-alaru (nArAyaNa)
O Lord nArAyaNa who blossoms (alaru) the heart (ullamu) of this tyAgarAja (tyAgarAjullamalaru)! Let my (nA) sight (jUpulu) behold (jUDani) Your (mI) elegance only (nAjUku tanamunE).

1 – bhUjESvara – bhUtESvara.
2 – piSAcAvESamu – piSAca vESamu : In the present context, 'piSAca vESamu' is not appropriate.
3 – kAceDu dESamunElanu – gAcE dESamunEludu : As the latter version gives a contrary meaning, the former version has been adopted.
4 – viDuvavElO teliyadu – viDa vElO teliyanu.
5 – nIdau jAlO teliyadu – nIkauSAlO teliaynu.
