O My Mind (manasa)! Who knows where (endu) Lord is hiding (dAginADO) and when (ennaDu) will He have (vaccunO) (literally come) compassion (daya) to come (rAnu) (rAnennaDu) here (IDaku).

O My Mind! Why (enduku) do you waver (capalamu)? Listen (vinavE) to my (nA) appeal (manavini).
As happened (vale) earlier (mundaTi), in order to nurture (pOshincuTaku) His devotees (bhaktula), who knows where Lord is hiding and when will He have compassion to come here.

That day (ala nADu), when hiraNya (kanaka) kaSipu, resorting to many (niNDAru) trickeries (calamu jEsi), troubled (bAdhala peTTaga) his son (sutuni) a lot (sakala),
(the Lord) unable to tolerate (madini tALaka) (literally tolerate in mind),
was He not (found) (uNDaga lEdA) inside (lOpala) (lOpalanuNDaga) a pillar (kambamu) for the sake of (koraku) unwavering (niScaluDaina) prahlAda (prahlAdu)?
O My mind! In the same (A) manner (rIti), who knows where He is hiding today (nEDu) (nEDendu) and when will He have compassion to come here.

Earlier (munu), finding (jUci) vAli – son (tanayuDu) of indra – cloud (vAri vAha) (literally carrier of water) rider (vAhana) - arrogantly (madamuna) thrashing (koTTuTa) (his brother) sugrIva – son of Sun (ravijuni) much (cAla),
unable to bear the sight (manasu tALa jAla lEka) (literally unable to bear in mind), was He not (lEdA) (found) standing (nilvaga) behind (maruguna) a palmyra (tALa) tree (taruvu) in order (sEya) to lovingly (prEmamuna) protect (pAlanamu) sugrIva?
O My mind! In the same (A) manner (rIti), who knows where He is hiding today (nEDu) (nEDendu) and when will He have compassion to come here.

ilanu cancala virahita nija bhakta
janulanu tyAgarAjuni rakshimpa nEDu-(endu)

To subjugate (aNaganu sEya) the (results of) wicked deeds (dush-karmamulunu) (dush-karmamulanaNaganu) committed (jEsina) during (nADu) (literally in those days) our previous (toli) births (janmamula),
to get hold (paTTi) of the six (Aru) (sEyanAru) (internal) enemies (Satrulanu) (kAma, krOdha, lObha, mOha, mada, mAtsarya) and pound (poDi sEya) them to pulp, and further (adiyu gAka) (sEyanadiyu),
to protect (rakshimpa) unwavering (cancalamu virahita) true (nija) devotees (bhakta janulanu) in this World (ilanu) as also this tyAgarAja (tyAgarAjuni),
O My mind! who knows where He is hiding today (nEdu) (nEDendu) and when will He have compassion to come here.

1kambamu – kambhamu. The saMskRta word for ‘pillar’ is ‘skambha’ and the telugu word is ‘kambamu’. Accordingly ‘kambamu’ has been adopted.
