I (nEnu) am, after all, an ignorant (pAmaru); is it possible (taramA) for me to extol (pogaDa) You? O Redeemer (pAvana) of fallen (patita)! O Six (shaD) Faced (Anana) (shaDAnana)!
Please listen (vinarA) to my (nA) appeal (manavi). I am undertaking continuous (anayamu) japa (japamurA) of Your (nI) name only (nAmamE). O Majestic (gambhIrA)! Who (evaDu) is the God (daivamu) (daivamevaDu) equal (sATi) to You (nI) in this Earth (bhUmilO)? You alone (nIvE) are magnanimous (mahAnubhAva). Please protect (brOvu) me (nannu).

In all Worlds (lOkamulanu), only Your (nI) holy feet (pAdamulE) are refuge (dikku). O Reliever (haraNa) of severe afflictions (santApa) for entire Universe (nikhila)!
O Destroyer (haraNa) of sins (pApa)! O Possessor (vidhRta) of charm (kalA) that fascinates (sammOhana)! O Perceiver (vidita) of the holy feet (pada) of vishNu – Consort (pati) of lakshmI (SrI)! Isn’t it (gadA) Your (nI) appellation (birudu) of compassionately (dayatOnu) granting (iccEdi) the wishes (kOrikalanu) (kOrikalaniccEdi) to all (ella) those (vAriki) (vArikella) who have sought (kOrina) You? O Slayer (vidAraka) of crooked (kuTila) tAraka asura!
O Lord whose exploits (caritra) are sweet (sArasa) to ears! Won’t You (nI) have (rAdA) mercy (daya)? O Lord (ISu) of vaidyESvaram (vaidya) (vaidyESa) extolled (nuta) by SyAma kRshNa! O Lord who has pea-cock (nIla kaNTha) (literally blue throated) as carrier (vAhana)! O Protector (avana) of humble people (dIna) (dInAvana)! O Lord abiding (vAsa) in the pure-hearted (suhRdaya)! Notes

Variations - (Pathanthara)
2brahmAdulaninci – This is how it is given in all books. This word is to be split as ‘brahmAdula unci’. Therefore, in my opinion, the correct form is ‘brahmAdulanunci’. However, colloquial version of the word seems to have been used here.

8 - dhIra raNa vIra - dhIra raNa dhIra : As ‘dhIra’ is already given, ‘raNa vIra’ seems to be more appropriate. However, ‘raNa dhIra’ is also correct form.

9vaidyESu – vaidyEsu : vaidyESu (vaidya ISu) seems to be appropriate form (ISu or ISuDu is telugu form of ISa).

1 - muddu kumAra – Name of subrahmaNya at vaidISvaran kOil. Dikshitar also calls the Lord ‘muddu kumAra’ in his kalyANi rAga kRti ‘bhajarE citta bAlAmbikAM’.

3santApa – This might refer to ‘tApa-traya’ – triple afflictions – AdhyAtmika – Adhi-daivIka – Adhi-bhautIka (caused by Self – God – Nature).

8raNa vIra – subrahmaNya is known as ‘dEva sEnA pati’ – the Commander of Army of celestials (in the war against asuras).

4 - sammOhana kalA vidhRta – Possessing charm that fascinates. In tamil, Lord subrahmaNya is called ‘murugan’ – which means ‘handsomeness embodied’. The telugu word ‘kaLa’ derived from Sanskrit ‘kala’ means ‘charm’ or ‘prettiness’.

5SrI-pati pada vidita – One who perceives the holy feet of vishNu. Please refer to vishNu sUkta – tad-vishNOH paramam padam sadA paSyanti sUrayaH -

subrahmaNya is depicted as a brahmacArin in North India. However, in South India, he is depicted with two wives – both stated to be daughters of vishNu. Otherwise also, vishNu is called maternal uncle of subrahmaNya because pArvati – mother of subrahmaNya – is sister of vishNu.

6vEdAnta rUpa – vEdAnta embodied – subrahmaNya is called ‘svAmi nAtha’ because he ‘initiated’ his father – Lord Siva – in praNava. For that, in tamil, he is called ‘tagappan sAmi’ – father’s teacher. Please refer to following website regarding significance of worship of subrahmaNya - shaNmukha.

7 - kOTi manmathAnga jita - subrahmaNya is also called ‘kumAra’. Kanchi Paramacharya, Chandrasekharendra Sarasvati, in the under-mentioned reference, explains this word as under - “Manmadhan is also called 'mAran'; and 'kumAran' some one who puts mAra to shame - is more beautiful than him. 9vaidyESa – Lord Siva at ‘vaidISvaran kOil’ is called ‘vaidya nAtha’. However, here Syama Sastry uses this term to mean ‘muddu kumAra svAmi’. This can also be interpreted as Lord (ISa) of Medicines (vaidya). Actually, ‘vaidya’ in the kshEtra refers to ‘bhava rOga vaidya’ – treatment of disease of Worldly existence.
