O Mother (talli) who bore me (kanna)! Is it justified (tagunA) to show (salupaga) this much (inta) of unconcern (kannaDa) towards (centanu) (centaninta) me (nAdu)?
Am I (nE) not the One (vADu gadA) who has trusted (nammi unna) (nammiyunna) You (ninnu)? You nourish (gAcEvu) the entire (anni) Worlds (bhuvanambulu). Is protecting (brOcuTaku) me (nannu) alone (okani) (nannokani) so difficult (arudA) (literally scarce) (brOcuTakarudA)?
O Mother anna pUrNa with pleasing (prasanna) countenance (mUrti) who bestows boons (varadA)!
O Foremost (dhaurEya) in getting rid (vimOcana) the fears (bhaya) of unfortunate people (vipanna)! Heeding (vinnavinci) to my plea (vinnapambu) made in Your sannidhi (literally holy presence), please protect me quickly.

O Daughter (bAla) of Himalaya – Mountain (Saila)! Why (Ela) this tarrying (jAlamu) (jAlamEla)? I am unable (jAlanu) to forbear (tALa). O Mother (jananI)! Did I, becoming wavering (lOla) minded (matiyai), trust (nammitinA) other (vErE) Gods (daivamula) than (vinA) You (ninnu) for the sake (arthamuga) of protection (pAlana) (pAlanArthamuga)?
I (nEnu) do not find (gAna) anywhere (eccaTanu aina) (nEneccaTanaina) that (A) kind of (Your) virtue (SIlamu) which has been extolled (nuta) (nutA) by Siva (nIla). O Mother who enjoys (lOla hRdayA) music (gAna)!
O Queen Consort (rANi) of Siva – blue (nIla) throated (kaNTha)! I trusted (nammitini) You (ninnu) – this statement (balikEdi) is true (nijambuga). Kindly (daya cEsi) protect me quickly.

I am unsteady (cancala) minded (AtmuDanu). O kAmAkshi of kAncIpura (kanci)! As a result of (salipitinO) some (Emi) earlier (pUrva) (meritorious) deeds (sancitamula), I (nEnu) beheld (poDagAncitini) You (ninnu). I surrender whole heartedly (SaraNu SaraNu).
O Mother (ammA)! You (nIvu) please turn (uncu) (literally place) a little (incuka) Your (A) (literally that) (nIvincukA) glance (cancala gati) (literally wandering) in my (nA) direction (desanu) (desanuncavammA). O Mother extolled (vinutA) by vishNu – SyAma kRshNa!
O dEvi who (aTTi) (literally that kind of) grants (iccunu) good (manci) fame (kIritini) (kIrtiniccunaTTi)! O Mother! Forgiving (manninci) me and tolerating (sahinci) my (nAdu) transgressions (aparAdhamula) (nAdaparAdhamula), please protect me quickly.

Please grant (osagi) me boons (varambu) (varambosagi) and protect me quickly so that I do not seek (kOri) and extol (vinutimpaga) those evil-some rich (dush-prabhula) who do not know (erugani) decencies (mariyAdalu) (mariyAdalerugani).

5nIla nuta – In the books, ‘nIla’ seems to have been taken to mean ‘Siva’. It is not known whether Siva has any such name. However, the same meaning has been retained here also.
